I am currently recruiting for a History Teacher to join an independent school in the Whyteleafe area (Surrey), who specialise in supporting Christian children and young people (7 - 18 years old).

The typical class size is between 12 - 30 and the student are taught virtually (onsite), they will be working at the national curriculum average (with adjustments needed for individual learning levels). This position is full-time long-term (potentially temp to perm) starting immediately (November 2024).

Daily Rate: Paid to scale

Location: Whyteleafe Surrey (South London)

Contract Type: Full Time, Temp-Perm

Start Date: Immediate (September 2024)

The successful applicants will have:

  • Previous experience working with secondary age students (key stage 3 & 4).
  • Ability to plan and deliver high quality, engaging lessons.
  • Experience teaching students virtually.
  • A thorough knowledge of the relevant curriculum areas up to KS4 and the ability to prepare pupils for public examinations.
  • The ability to effectively manage pupil behaviour during lessons.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents and students.

The role will consist of:

  • Teaching KS3 and KS4 History.
  • Teaching to a class of varying needs including varied types of learning levels.
  • Work closely with students, their parents/careers and other members of staff to make sure that the students are happy and learning well.
  • Tracking student progress on a regular basis.
  • Adapting the syllabus according to the individual students' EHCP.
  • Implementing and delivering an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated learning area as appropriate.
  • Making appropriate use of a range of monitoring and assessment strategies to evaluate pupil's progress.
  • Improving long term outcomes for students.

The ideal applicants will have:

  • QTS or equivalent and experience of working in UK schools (Unqualified Teachers with relevant subject experience will also be considered).
  • Valid and Enhanced Child or Child and Adult DBS check registered on the update service (or willing to process a new one).
