Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Widnes-based single-form entry primary school as they are looking to recruit a motivated and experienced teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary contract. Within this school you will be supporting a Year 6 pupil on a 1:1 basis with behavioural needs.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a Year 6 pupil with behavioural needs on a 1:1 basis. You will build a strong constructive relationship with this pupil by taking a pupil-centred approach to their education, adapting your approach to best suit their needs, emotional state and attainment needs. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies including "Now & Next", distraction and regulation. As their behaviour at times can escalate, you will also be required to take them outside the classroom to give them time to burn off steam. You will offer intervention and booster sessions including SAT's preparation, and liaise with the class teacher to ensure that all sessions are in line with attainment needs and liaise with the SENCO/parent's/guardian's on their general academic and behavioural progress.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience as a teaching assistant within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience working within/across KS2 (Key Stage 2)
  • Experience supporting challenging behaviours, ADHD, and/or SEMH
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous
