My client is a well-established engineering firm looking to expand their fabrication team due to growth and increased project levels.

Duties of the Role:
- Begin the day by reviewing project specifications, blueprints, or schematics to understand duct sizes, materials, and layout.
- Check for updates or revisions to design plans from engineers or project managers.
- Measure required lengths and dimensions for ducts or fittings.
- Cut materials (sheet metal, steel, aluminum) to specified measurements using tools such as shears, saws, or plasma cutters.
- Use tools like hammers, presses, and brakes to bend and shape metal sheets into duct components (e.g., elbows, joints, straight runs).
- Apply precise techniques to ensure smooth bends and proper angles for efficient airflow.
- Assemble duct pieces using rivets, screws, or welding.
- Add gaskets, seals, or insulation to prevent air leaks and ensure airtight connections.
- For complex sections, ensure ducts fit together properly before connecting.
- For advanced fabrication, weld sections of ductwork to ensure strong, durable connections, or rivet them if welding is not required.
- Inspect welds for quality, checking for leaks and ensuring all seams are secure.
- Prepare completed ductwork for shipment or installation, ensuring it is packaged and organized correctly.
- If the project is on-site, prepare sections of ductwork for transport to the installation team.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
- Maintain a clean work area to minimize risks.
Experience Required:
- High-level experience in ductwork fabrication
- Experience working with HVAC systems
- Ability to work under pressure
- Experience with high-volume projects
- Ability to read technical drawings
- A driving license is preferred but not essential
