Product Manager Job in Widnes

Dovetail Recruitment are proud to be working with an innovative business in Widnes who are recruiting for a new Product Manager to join them, and work across their main categories of health and beauty and personal care products.

You will need a background in developing fast moving consumer goods ideally that are sold into discount retailers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand the market, product trends and research, including talking to customers and visiting customer stores.
  • Assess competitors’ products to identify important features and compare performance with equivalent company products.
  • Conduct market research, identify and drive new product development and product upgrades against a plan.
  • Lead on all functions of the product development process including brand development, design, and buying/supplier relations
  • Delegate projects to the product assistant, manage and work with them to ensure they are supported effectively.
  • Deliver products and ranges that are targeted and exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage our critical paths and ensure communication is at the front of mind.
  • Write clear briefs and communicate efficiently with our suppliers globally.
  • Support and manage product and design briefs. Working closely with the design team to produce and adjust designs to fit customer/brand requirements
  • Arrange samples, costs, and presentations for customer meetings and present to customers/ attend customer meetings.
  • Review supplier quotes to ensure competitive and fair pricing. Collaborate with sales to analyse product costs and margins. Suggest and negotiate target prices for product components or the final product to align with profitability goals. Conduct cost-benefit analysis to ensure product features justify the cost quoted.
  • Develop and engage with the wider team on new product concepts. Schedule workflow, approve product samples and assure quality standards through all stages of new product development.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Happy to travel to office locations across the UK and globally, meetings and trade shows
  • Experience developing products for discount retailers such as Home Bargains, B&M and Poundland
  • Trend focused, and able to draw on competitor research
  • Able to form and track a critical path
