Pure Insight support young people leaving childrens homes and foster care (care leavers) between the age of 16 28. We provide a wraparound offer supporting young people to take control of their lives, feel connected and develop a sense of belonging in their community. Over the past 10 years we have grown across Greater Manchester delivering services in Stockport, Salford, Cheshire East, and Warrington, in the upcoming year we have plans to extend our services to other local authorities in the surrounding areas. To support our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a part time Emotional and Mental Health Wellbeing Worker to join our Pure Insight Team. This role is working with young care leavers to teach a range of skills under safety and stabilisation - such as learning self-care and self-regulatory skills, understanding any current or historical diagnosis/labels and what impact this has on them now, delivering therapeutic interventions or supporting them to access other appropriate service.

Job Description

Main Objectives

To work with young people who present with symptoms resulting from experiences

To work with young people aged 18-25 providing assessment of need of trauma.

Provide trauma informed training to upskill other professionals working with young people in care and care leavers.

Build relationships and liaise with other relevant health professionals around the mental health needs of cared for young people.

Detailed Description

Provide an assessment of need and emotional wellbeing plan.

Deliver support to young people presenting with symptoms resulting from experiences of trauma, provide interventions to support safety and stabilisation.

Support young people to access health advice, services and support in the community

Provide trauma informed training to upskill staff and volunteers working with care leavers in social care and Pure Insight.

To manage your own caseload.

Provide group activity to steer parts of the project that promote resilience and developing relationships including the social media /blog space.

Build and maintain relationships with relevant professionals working with care leavers, advocating on behalf of young people where necessary.

To deal quickly and effectively with safeguarding issues as they arise.

Make appropriate referrals as and when they are needed in consultation with young people and provide the practical support needed to access other services a knowledge of local appropriate services is necessary.

To work within Pure Insights confidentiality guidelines and safeguarding practice and policies.

Qualities

Maintain appropriate and up to date records of your work, including case notes and monitoring forms.

To assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the service, and the development of more effective methods for monitoring and evaluation.

Attend both individual and group supervision in line with the requirements of the service.

To ensure that you are familiar with, understand and work within all service policies and procedures as they relate to your work.

To attend training relevant to the service.

To ensure you are current with all relevant safeguarding and legislation.

To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

Recognised trauma qualification or training.

Counselling/ Psychotherapy diploma.

Complex Trauma Training.

BACP/UKCP accredited/ registered or equivalent.

Supervised therapeutic practice (evidence of hours).

Experience of working with cared for children or care leavers.

Experience of providing trauma informed support around safety and stabilisation to young people using a variety of different tools.

Experience of working with traumatised children and young people.

Minimum 2 years experience of a therapist post qualification.

Knowledge

Good understanding of symptoms of trauma including PTSD, BPD, complex trauma, and awareness of appropriate therapeutic approaches to address these with young people.

Attachment knowledge.

Awareness of specific issues affecting young people.

Awareness of boundaries applied to working with young people.

Specialist knowledge of a range of skills and approaches underpinned by theory.

Experience of dealing effectively with complex safeguarding issues.

Good knowledge of local services.

Additional therapy skills e.g EMDR, TR-CBT, creative therapies, and other measurable therapies.
