Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Widnes-based single form entry primary school as they are looking to recruit a dedicated and committed teaching assistant to support a pupil in the reception class on a 1:1 basis with complex and profound needs (dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal) that requires personal care/nappy changing. This is a long-term ongoing contract, meaning if the child stays at the school, this will last for the full academic year.Your new roleIn your new role as a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a pupil in the reception class on a 1:1 basis that has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. As this child has complex and profound needs, you will be required to take a pupil-centred approach to their education by effectively managing their triggers and routine. You will ensure that all learning takes place in a safe, inclusive, and accessible learning environment by effectively assessing risks, triggers, behaviours, and their emotional state. You will also act as this child's main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate and walking them back to their grown-up at the end of the school day. You will support them during break and lunch times and complete personal care/nappy changing as required.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting adults and/or young people with complex needs, as well as:

  • Extensive experience with SEN
  • Be able to commit to a full-time contract
  • Be comfortable with personal/intimate care
