Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted rated "Outstanding" SEND school in Halton as they are looking to appoint a reliable and experienced SEN teaching assistant to support all KS2 classes. This is a full-time role with hours consisting of 8:30am - 3:30pm.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school you will be working alongside the KS2 (Key Stage 2) class teachers to offer a stimulating, engaging and accessible learning environment for all pupils. You will aid in the implementation of a number of positive behaviour strategies to encourage pupil input and behaviours within the classroom and to build strong constructive relationships. You will support a variety of SEN including ASD, non-verbal and GLD, meaning that it is imperative that you take a pupil-centred approach to learning. As you will be supporting complex SEN you will also be required to closely monitor pupil triggers, ensuring that in the case of escalation it is in a safe environment. Other duties will include intervention and boosters, sensory play and therapy, speech and language support, and break/lunchtime responsibilities.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting children/young people between the ages of 5 - 11 with complex needs in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract
