Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a Widnes-based single-form entry SEND primary school as they are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to support across the EYFS and KS1 (key stage 1) classes. This is a long-term contract that will last for a minimum of 3 months.Your new roleIn your new role as a teaching assistant within this SEND school you will be supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will take a pupil-centred approach to education as to ensure that each pupils individual EHCP's, academic and emotional needs are met. You will work on pupil speech and language development by holding phonics sessions, assessments and therapy on a 1:1 basis. You will work closely with the class teachers to ensure that each pupil reaches their full academic potential, and where appropriate, break down learning material in a more digestible manner. As you will be working with complex needs you will also be required to build strong constructive relationships with your pupils, which will aid in promoting positive behaviours and identifying trigger points. What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, recent referenceable experience working with children and young people, and:

  • Experience supporting SEN (special educational needs)
  • Be able to commit to a full-time contract
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is advantageous but not essential
