Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Widnes-based SEND school that supports pupils with a variety of complex SEN and medical needs as they are looking to recruit reliable and motivated teaching assistants for a supply and long-term basis. This school supports pupils between EYFS - KS4 (ages 2 - 16) with working hours consisting of 8:30am - 3:30pm.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with a variety of complex SEN and medical needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. You will support the class teachers in offering a stimulating and engaging learning environment that is adapted to suit each pupil's individual needs. As you will be supporting pupils with EHCP's you will be required to take a pupil-centred approach to education, ensuring that the needs of pupils are at the heart of all operations and ensuring that their individual academic and physical needs are met. You will implement a myriad of behaviour strategies, including "Now & Next" and traffic light systems to ensure that all learning is delivered in a safe and inclusive learning environment. Other duties will include but may not be limited to holding interventions and boosters, use of PECs/Makaton to communicate, sensory therapy/play, and assisted toileting.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as extensive referenceable experience supporting adults, children and/or young people with complex needs, as well as:

  • Experience using PECs/Makaton is advantageous
  • Experience supporting complex SEN such as ASD, LD, GLD, non-verbal and other medical needs
  • Be able to commit to the working hours 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Prior experience within a school setting is advantageous but not essential
