Transport Planner

Pay: £14.40 p/h
Hours: 4 ON 4 OFF, 07.00-19.00 (60 mins unpaid break)
Location: Widnes, WA8 0PB
Contract: Temporary, Maternity cover.

Pertemps are recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner to work at a busy distribution site, based in Widnes.

As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in optimising our client's transportation operations to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of goods to their customers.

Duties will include:
  • Coordinating the assignment of drivers.
  • Assigning drivers to routes while considering Working Time Directive regulations.
  • Utilising the Microlise Transportation Management System.
  • Monitoring and managing the fleet to minimise downtime and maximise utilisation.
  • Frequent utilisation of spreadsheets to a significant extent.
  • Generating reports and key performance indicators for management review.
  • Staying up to date with transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ensuring quick and effective responses to unforeseen challenges.

Skills and experience required:
  • Proven experience in transport planning within a distribution or logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in using route optimisation software and transportation management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
