IntroductionButler Rose Public Practice Northern Division is delighted to be supporting our client, a well respected firm of Chartered Certified Accountants in the Wigan and surrounding areas. Established over 25 years ago, they currently service a wide range of clients ranging from small sole traders to large limited companies upto and excluding the audit threshold.

They provide an exceptional service at cost-effective rates to businesses of all sizes. Their staff are friendly and efficient. They are eager to recruit an experienced Client Accountant to be a key member of the Accounts Team. They are now seeking an individual who can help undertake some of the workload, manage a portfolio of clients and make a positive contribution to their team and client base. Key Responsibilities:As Client Accountant your duties will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients including bookkeeping, accounts preparation, VAT returns and liaising with clients
  • Accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Preparing accounts from new start ups to Limited Companies upto the audit threshold (whilst they don't conduct audits they prepare accounts for audit sized firms and outsource the audits)
  • Self-assessment Tax Returns
  • Company Tax Returns
  • Bookkeeping & Vat returns

In summary, you will be managing your own portfolio of clients. You will have the autonomy required to get on and do the job which could be anything from accounts to January tax returns.You will be part of a small team of colleagues who all have an abundance of experience and therefore will be part of a friendly and inclusive culture where everyone supports one another to get the job done. You will work circa 35 hours a week. This is an office based role with flexibility to start a little earlier or later to fit in with your family life if required. Person Specification

  • Substantial experience of working within an Accountancy Practice preparing client accounts, bookkeeping and VAT is essential
  • Car driver or able to commute to the office daily
  • Proficiency with regard to using accounting software including TaxCalc, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and VT Transaction
  • Experience of working to billing targets and comfortable with this
  • Experience of managing your own portfolio of clients
  • Excellent communication skills across all remits including email, telephone and in person with both clients and colleagues a like
  • Good team player with the experience to work independently
  • You may be professionally qualified but your experience and personal qualities are far more important than professional qualifications and therefore stopped studiers or Qualified by Experience are equally welcome to apply
  • Ability to manage your time appropriately to get the job done to time and budget
