Oakleaf Partnership are working with a well-established and growing UK business in Skelmersdale who are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join and support a busy team. The role will effectively be a standalone payroll position and will manage the payroll process from start to finish, support the wider Finance team and work collaboratively with the People function. This is an exciting time to be joining the business as they embark on a growth journey with new PE backing!

What is the role

As the Payroll Specialist, you will report directly to the Head of Finance and take ownership of the payroll function. You will use Sage50 Payroll to process monthly payroll and adjustments such as overtime, holidays and absence, set up new starters and process leavers, process any additional commissions and bonuses and handle any payroll queries from colleagues. You will maintain accurate pensions records, send out relevant documentation to new starters and run various reports. There will be monthly checks and compliance to keep on top of as well at the submission of month end reports and management of payroll year end. There will be ad-hoc task to complete as part of the finance team. You will also support with department projects for continuous improvement.



Candidate profile/experience

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, managing end-to-end payroll processes. You will have strong communication skills both written and verbal and have great attention to detail. You will have strong organisational and time management skills. You will ideally have good Excel skills and knowledge of the Sage50 Payroll system although this is desirable and not essential.
