Accounts Assistant | Wigan (Office Based) | £30-34k
TalentEdge is supporting a well-established and growing business in the Wigan area. This is a maternity cover fixed term contract until the end of April 2026. Whilst this position is initially a temporary role, consideration of a permanent position will be given depending on the performance of the candidate and business requirements.
The role is to provide assistance to the Management Accountant who has responsibility for all aspects of the management accounts for 3 businesses within the group. The role is wide-ranging, covering many aspects of the accounts function as well as requiring interaction with other functions within the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Month end journals. i.e. accruals and prepayments
- Management of intercompany balances
- Project cost reconciliations and reporting
- Preparation of weekly payroll
- Payment run creation
- Management of credit card process
- Purchase ledger processing and raising sales invoices
- Cost and revenue analysis
This role would suit someone who is currently studying towards a professional accounting qualification. However, candidates who are qualified by experience will also be considered.

- 41 hours per week. Typically, 8am-5pm (Monday-Thursday) and 8am – 3.30pm (Friday) although there is some flexibility around start and finish times.
