HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER - Construction

WIGAN

Up to £50,000 DOE

My client is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join the business on a full time, permanent basis. You will be working in a split office / on site role, responsible for managing your own diary, overseeing and promoting a professional H&S culture across the business. The successful candidate will have experience working within the Construction industry, be NEBOSH qualified and enjoy working closely with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.

You will be:

  • Developing and revising Health and Safety policies, safety at work, and working procedures
  • Carrying out audits, preparing reports, and monitoring closure of actions required
  • Providing training to internal staff on risk assessments
  • Investigating accidents/incidents and report writing
  • Providing H&S coaching to site managers and site workers on sites across the UK (2/3 days per week)
  • Assisting with developing and driving forward key H&S initiatives
  • Ensuring safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and alarm tests are conducted, lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities
  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicating relevant changes to the business
  • Working closely with the MD on any other Health & Safety related tasks / procedures

Requirements for the role:

  • NEBOSH Health and Safety General Certificate
  • Relevant qualification / Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent professional body
  • Experience providing advice and guidance on health and safety to management and employees at all levels
  • Experience in investigation of incidents, accidents, and recommending preventative measures
  • Background in Construction
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to ongoing change
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and support others to do the same
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships with other organisations and colleagues and work collaboratively with colleagues
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent IT skills and ability to effectively use computer software packages i.e. Microsoft Office
