This well established, family owned company provides specialist services and project solutions to a varied customer base and are highly profitable with increasing turnover year on year. Due to impending retirement they would now like to appoint an ambitious Finance Manager to take over as eventual successor to the FD. This carefully planned process will also involve members of the current management team taking over from several other retiring Directors to ensure the continued success and longevity of the business. This vacancy therefore presents a fantastic development opportunity for someone looking for a clearly defined progression route to a leadership position in an SME.

The role will involve overseeing a settled and capable team of three staff, taking responsibility for all the day to day finance needs of the business whilst also improving systems and process on an ongoing basis. The preferred candidate profile would be someone CIMA / ACCA or ACA qualified or strong QBE, either at Financial Accountant or Management Accountant level looking to step up or a Finance Manager wanting more responsibility in a wider role. Support and training can be provided by the FD to someone demonstrating the right drive and commitment to development. The main responsibilities will be:

Maintaining a robust finance function in a high growth business

Providing a suite of monthly MI for the management team

Developing KPIs and driving process improvement

Management and development of finance team

Balance sheet management, control and reconciliations

Month end close and management accounts production

Production of statutory accounts and running the audit

Developing the stock and planning system, inc. Asset management, depreciation etc.

VAT returns, payroll and HMRC matters inc. Corporate Pension Scheme

Budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management

Financial modelling of new opportunities/product launches

The business is currently going through a transition onto SAGE and have also been developing a variety of other systems and databases, as Finance Manager you will play a key part in supporting these processes so should have strong IT skills in addition to Excel knowledge to a competent level. Their external accountants will be on hand for support and they would welcome interest from applicants also looking to leave practice and move into industry.
