An alternative privision SEMH school in Hindley, Wigan are seeking a Cover Supervisor to support pupils across Key Stage 3 and 4, as soon as possible, with a December 2024 or January 2025 start available!!

The school provides a specialist learning environment for pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties ( SEMH ), and class sizes are small - with generally 5-10 pupils in each class. The role will involve leading pre-planned lessons and ensuring pupils are engaging and on task, whilst consistently and positively reinforcing the school behaviour policy.

The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience, patience and an ability to strike up rapport and develop relationships with SEMH pupils. Pupils arrive at the school having struggled to access learning in their previous school/s, and clear routines and therapies are implemented in school to help re-engage students with the education system. The personal relationships developed with pupils ensure that each one achieves their potential, both academically and personally.

The school are ideally looking for someone with experience of working with pupils in an SEMH or PRU setting, and are able to support pupils who demonstrate challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience and confidence when developing relationships with SEMH pupils.

The school require a Cover Supervisor on an ongoing, full-time basis until July 2025, with potential of permanent roles becoming available in 2025.

The role will involve working school hours from 8.30 - 3.30pm, with rates of pay available from £100 - £120 per day, dependant upon experience. Tradewind pay our cover supervisors directly via PAYE, and not through a third party umbrella company!!)

To be successful in this Cover Supervisor role, you will need to:

  • Have knowledge and understanding of working with SEN and challenging behaviour
  • Demonstrate a proven record of engaging all pupils and raising their attainment
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure - or hold a DBS currently subscribed to DBS Update Service
  • Provide overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and undergo professional reference checks
  • Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
