We are working with a high school in Wigan dedicated to providing our students with hands-on, engaging learning experiences who are seeking a Technology Technician to join them in a long term placement. The Design Technology and Food Technology departments are central to our mission, equipping students with practical skills and fostering creativity. We are looking for a skilled and organised Technology Technician to support these departments and help maintain a safe, efficient learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain equipment, tools, and materials for practical lessons in Design Technology and Food Technology.
  • Assist teachers and students during practical sessions, ensuring safe usage of equipment and tools.
  • Perform regular maintenance, repairs, and safety checks on machinery and equipment, including woodworking, metalworking, and culinary tools.
  • Monitor and manage inventory, ordering supplies and materials as needed to support lesson plans.
  • Assist in setting up displays of students' work, including project showcases and exhibitions.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Support teachers in demonstrations and lesson preparation to facilitate a smooth and effective learning experience.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience or qualifications in a related technical field, ideally within a school or educational environment.
  • Familiarity with Design Technology and Food Technology equipment and tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a commitment to health and safety.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to handle technical issues efficiently.
