My client is looking to recruit a Process Technician to help support the team. Reporting directly to the NPD Manager, the process Technologist will play a crucial role in the development of new and existing products lines with the Product Development strategy from concept through to full scale launch, looking at Continuous Improvements on current lines

You'll be responsible for running factory trials, ensuring products meet the required quality and technical standards and identifying opportunities for operational efficiencies. This will involve close working with the team on the factory floor and the technical team. You'll need experience in managing NPD and EPD projects from concept sign-off stage to launch for retail customers. You'll enjoy solving challenges in the scale up stage in production and have a good track record in doing so.

Hours

  • Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30
  • Friday 07:30 - 15:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of designated new product (NPD), concepts from customer or internal brand approval of kitchen samples through factory trial to scaled production
  • Lead the development of designated product reformulation (EPD), projects from customer or internal brand approval of kitchen samples through factory trial to scaled production.
  • Take ownership of the rework programme - working with NPD technologists to create rework recipes of non-conforming finished goods and ingredients. Work with Quality and Technical team to conduct root cause analysis of reason for NCS and prepare recommendations to prevent future occurrence
  • Working with NPD colleagues research advances in ingredient technology, formulations and processing techniques to optimise recipe performance in manufacture and end customer processing
  • Collaborate with Operations to scale up processes from the kitchen to factory trial to full-scale manufacturing
  • Take ownership of all factory trials, acting as product lead and working with other teams to monitor, record and refine factory trial production process
  • Working with Operations optimise manufacturing processes forNPD andEPD projects to:
    • Maximise production yields and minimise costs across labour, processing time and raw materials
    • Maximise product performance for end customer
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams regarding new products and processes
  • Work with Operations to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to product formulation and manufacturing
  • Communicate NPD and EPD project progress to key stakeholders updating on any delays to timeline
  • Create, trial and confirm to all stakeholders work away recipes for managing non-conforming stock into mainstream production




Job requirements

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years in new product development or operational management role in a B2B food manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of food processing technologies, ingredient functionality and product development project management
  • Experience with sensory evaluation, shelf-life testing and product plant trials
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as HACCP
  • Excellent project management and organisation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
