Purchasing Assistant - Wigan - Permanent - £25k - £27k per annum (DOE) + Bonus

Forrest Recruitment Ltd are delighted to be working exclusively with this successful family run, leading independent distributor who have been established for over 60 years. They are based in the heart of Wigan and offer supportive and collaborative working environment. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager and working alongside the Finance team, they are seeking an experienced Purchasing Assistant who has strong Excel/data analysis skillsto join their long-standingteam of 4. The role involves managing the purchasing spend against the budget per month and analysing/forecasting stock, so would suit a detail - driven candidate.

Daily duties will include:

  • Assisting to manage a supplier list of approximately 120 suppliers maintaining relationships
  • Using an inhouse dashboard to track/forecast stock levels
  • Data analysis of trends/quantities of stock versus whats on order/last years sales trends to forecast on what stock is required
  • Liaising with suppliers to order stock and raising POs on the inhouse system
  • Negotiating prices/lead times or agreeing special deals on bulk order
  • Chasing up orders from suppliers by telephone/email and dealing with invoices/pricings issues
  • Attending a weekly team meeting to discuss product sales performance and set plans to improve underperforming stock sales via promotional offers
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders and to suggest ideas and take feedback

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am - 4:30pm

To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of 12 months purchasing experience, strong Excel skills and the ability to analyse data. Excellent communication skills are essential to maintain supplier relationship and a keen eye for detail to identify trends and ensure correct stock levels.
