MGF have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Accountant with a strong academic background to join our team based at our head office in Ashton-In-Makerfield. The role will give you an understanding of all aspects of accounts and we will support you in pursuing a professional accountancy qualification.

Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Working in the Accounts office you will have responsibility for all aspects of the purchase ledger and receive training to process wages, petty cash and cash book. You are expected to learn and assist with all aspects of the accounting systems including nominal ledger monthly management accounts and yearly stock accounts and budgets
  • Working in the Credit Control department you will be expected to learn and assist with all aspects of the sales ledger and debt collection
  • Working alongside the Cost Accountant you will prepare the monthly asset register and learn all the accounting aspects of this role, including stock takes
  • Learn to process employee expenses
  • Learn to process weekly wages
  • Learn procedures for monthly management accounts completion
  • Assist Management Accountants with all aspects of accounting procedures

The core requirements for this role are:

  • Motivated self-starter with good administration and organisational skills
  • A professional manner with good communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Willingness to learn and take up new challenges
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance related field desirable but not essential
