We are currently recruiting for an experienced R&D Lab Technician for our Chemical Manufacturing client in Wigan. The successful candidate will join a well-established, large COMAH site working days.

R&D Lab Technician Requirements:

  • A-Level in Chemistry (or equivalent Level 4 qualification in chemistry)
  • Ability to follow chemistry testing techniques
  • Experience working in a busy lab environment
  • Practical hands-on attitude
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing and maintaining PPE
  • A desire to work with team members to improve processes and product quality
  • Flexible approach to working
  • Excellent attention to detail including housekeeping
  • Calibration
  • Good IT skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, ERP systems
  • Good understanding of sampling and product testing

The R&D Lab Technician Responsibilities will include:

  • Packing of Limited Quantity samples for dispatch to customers.
  • Liaise with Warehouse operators to collect required materials from stock.
  • Collect finished products from stock for dispatch as samples to customers.
  • Collect raw materials from stock for R&D Chemists to use.
  • Maintain inventory list for R&D Chemical stores.
  • Perform benchtop blends of materials and evaluation of the resultant material.
  • Undertake experimental work in accordance with the R&D Manual
  • Testing and evaluation of Raw Materials
  • Testing and evaluation of competitors products
  • Calibration & maintenance of equipment
  • Support QA issues in relation to Rework / Complaints / Incidents / Rejects
  • Record work and generate reports as requested
  • Regular project reviews with Laboratory Manager
  • Provide support for Production and QC departments
  • Support and train new staff in all procedures including all of the above
  • Immediately report any incident which the management need to address using the appropriate reporting systems in place
  • Ensure that all duties/activities associated are carried out in compliance to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality management systems
