Are you an experienced Special Needs Assistant looking for a rewarding new role in Wigan? Do you have expertise in supporting children with a variety of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, cognitive delay, global delay, Down syndrome, and hearing impairments? We are currently recruiting Special Needs Assistants to provide support in primary education settings across Wigan. The role offers an hourly rate of £13 to £14 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. You will be matched with a suitable placement based on your expertise, ensuring a fulfilling and impactful role.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare resources and activities for one-to-one and small group support.

  • Work closely with classroom teachers and SENCOs to organise tailored interventions.

  • Provide targeted support to children with additional needs.

  • Monitor and track student progress, offering guidance to improve confidence and development.

  • Collaborate with teachers, specialist support staff, and other professionals.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements:
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or SEN setting.

  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with confidence and patience.

  • Strong communication skills to build relationships with children, staff, and parents.

  • Adaptability, creativity, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.

  • Understanding of SEN and learning difficulties.

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
