Recruit4staff are proud to be representing their client, a leading bridge construction company, in their search for a Fabricator Welder (Heavy Gauge) to work in their facility in Ince.

Job Role: The Fabricator Welder (Heavy Gauge) position involves fabricating structural components, including plate preparation using methods such as oxy-fuel gas cutting and hand grinding, pressure testing, drilling, and lock fitting. Responsibilities include fitting, fairing, and tack welding steelwork, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, operating various tools and machinery, assembling parts into structures through welding or using bolts and rivets, finishing assemblies with grinders and polishers to smooth surfaces, and ensuring high-quality standards are met while adhering to health and safety protocols.

Job Details:

  • Pay: £17.12 per hour, equating to £35,609 per annum.
  • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
  • Duration: Permanent.
  • Overtime Rules: Overtime paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate (£25.68) and double time (£34.24); overtime available after hours and on weekends.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience in heavy steel fabrication and plating work on structural steel projects.
  • Proficiency in working from engineering drawings.
  • Skilled in plate preparation using methods such as oxy-fuel gas cutting and hand grinding, pressure testing, drilling, and lock fitting.
  • Qualifications:
    • City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent in fabrication.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in similar roles, including shipbuilding/repair, bridge manufacturing, and structural steel project work.
