This is an exciting opportunity to lead, develop, and implement health and safety initiatives while driving cultural change across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies and procedures to meet legal and company requirements.
- Ensure compliance with the Company's Health & Safety, Food Safety, GMP, and hygiene policies at all times.
- Drive continuous improvement in Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure SSOW, Lotto, and RAMS processes are regularly reviewed.
- Investigate and report on accidents, near misses, and incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Chair monthly Health & Safety meetings and facilitate the site's H&S Committee.
- Provide Health & Safety advice, guidance, and training to staff at all levels.
- Support the site's environmental plan in collaboration with the Environmental Manager.
- Manage the safety observation program and ensure robust reporting and analysis.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, including the HSE, NHS, and Fire & Rescue Services.
- Oversee first aid provision, fire control systems, and crisis management initiatives.
- Participate in cross-audit processes within the group, including UK and international travel.
- Maintain compliance with all HR, Health & Safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Skills and Experience Required:
Essential:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Health & Safety role within an FMCG manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Diploma preferred).
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a Lean mindset.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to inspire and engage teams.
- Proven ability to analyse data, identify trends, and implement solutions.
- Self-motivated and capable of driving cultural change in a matrix-structured, international business.
Desirable:
- Experience in managing site safety systems, including CCTV, access control, and fire safety systems.
- Familiarity with crisis management, food defence, and insurance compliance.
- Strong ability to deliver training and promote H&S awareness across diverse teams.
