Role:           Residential Support Worker (Senior positions available)

Salary:         Starting from £24,398 up to £35,811 (senior positions)

Locations:   Leicestershire – (Coalville, Syston, Market Harborough, Mountsorrel

& Hinkley)

Hours:         37 hours (shift work)

Duration:     Permanent

You will be working within a home, based in one of the locations in Leicestershire that supports vulnerable individuals or children & young people who have experienced trauma/significant life events which have negatively impacted their emotional well-being & mental health. You could be working in 3 self-contained flats that can house up to 3 families at any one time. Families utilising this type of service may include parents with moderate to high learning needs, those presenting with issues around domestic violence, and or substance/alcohol misuse.

You could be providing support to children & young people with a range of complex needs, providing a nurturing environment that enables them to continue to recover from the mental health issues that led to their admission to a Tier 4 CAMHS unit. Some of the homes will meet the specific needs of children & young people who are ready for discharge and no longer require inpatient mental health services, you could be supporting children and young people facing risks around exploitationby identifying and responding to harm and abuse posed to them outside of their home environment and understanding the importance of intervention.

Duties:

  • To build trust and develop nurturing relationships which promote the service user's independence, wellbeing, strengths, and capabilities.
  • To work in partnership and build relationships with parents/carers and other professionals.
  • To support fellow Residential Support Workers in their day-to-day duties.
  • To contribute to the upkeep of the home, including cooking, cleaning etc.
  • To document information accurately and ensure records are kept up to date.
  • To ensure that safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • To promote, monitor and maintain a safe environment at all times

Requirements:

  • Must hold the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare OR be willing to successfully achieve this within the required timeframe.
  • Must be motivated by the opportunity to make a positive difference in young people's lives, creating a safe space and building resilience.
  • Ability to demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding and protection of vulnerable children & young people.
  • Flexibility to commit to sleep-ins and shift work, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Relevant experience working with children & young people is desirable, but not essential, with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
