Position: SEN English Teacher Location: Wigston Salary: £150 - £200 per day (experience dependent) Contract Type: Part-time, temporary Start Date: ASAPAbout Us:Hays are working in partnership with a dedicated alternative provision in Wigston who are committed to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. Their mission is to empower every student to achieve their full potential through tailored educational programs and holistic support. They are a small school with a close-knit team of teachers and support staff. Role Overview:We want to speak to passionate and dedicated English Teachers who would be interested in a new challenge. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching secondary-level students, particularly those with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated English lessons that cater to the diverse needs of our students. You will need to be resilient and have a strong personality in order to manage slightly trickier behaviours.Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans to support student progress.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Manage challenging behaviour effectively, using de-escalation techniques and restorative practices.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support student well-being and academic achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and reports.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within a SEN setting.
  • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour is essential.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a reflective approach to teaching.
