Transport Planner- Local Government£27-£50ph6-12 month contract

Hybrid role - 2 days in Leicester

The Transport Strategy and Policy Team (TSaP) are looking for a Transport Planner, for an initial period of 6 to 12 months, to provide support on the delivery of the team plan, goals and objectives.  

This role will be mainly focused on the development and implementation of the Multi Modal Area Investment Plans (MMAIPs) programme under newly adopted LTP4 (link) . The MMAIPs are a key delivery mechanism as part of Leicestershire’s LTP4 setting out our transport priorities and solutions at the local geographical level to provide an integrated transport network and enable travel choice for our communities. Initial work has begun in the form of the MMAIPs pilot focused on the three areas of South of Leicester including Market Harborough and Hinckley.  

This work will focus on the development and adoption of the MMAIPs, alongside our programme of developing focused strategies and County Wide Strategy Transport Investment Plan. Key to the role will be the ability to interpret transport strategy and policy to support delivery teams in developing key integrated transport interventions and solutions, including supporting cross-cutting programme delivery.  

To enable this work, we need a candidate who has the following key skills; 

  • Knowledge and experience in the development and implementation of integrated transport investment / delivery plans.  

  • Knowledge of prioritisation processes to deliver the investment / delivery plan. 

  • Experience of supporting the evidence base identification and development of schemes at the feasibility stage. 

  • Knowledge of project management and governance processes 

  • Experience in public consultation and engagement
