The Role

The Buyer will support the operations of the purchasing team taking a hands-on role in both commercial/contractual content and play an active role in supporting supplier selection and supplier management.

With a keen eye for detail and highly capable numerically, the Buyer will ensure the most effective purchasing outcomes for the business and manage the supplier base ensuring contractual obligations are met. You will be an excellent relationship builder with suppliers and project stakeholders.

The Buyer will support bids and proposal work packages from a commercial perspective and work closely with the engineering teams on project costing activity. You will support purchasing activity and provide data analysis for make vs buy considerations.

The Buyer will prepare project cost reports and work closely with supplier including visits to site to ensure the most positive and productive supplier interaction for the business.

The Person

The successful candidate for the role of Buyer will have previous purchasing and procurement experience within a manufacturing environment that operates at a fast pace with complex packages of work. Previous sector experience in manufacturing and/or precision engineering is highly desired for the role.

A degree (or equivalent level) qualification and ongoing CIPS certification is highly valued but not a prerequisite for the role. The business offers excellent professional development and support for further training in this area.

The ability to read an engineering drawing is highly advantageous for the role in addition to a high level of competency numerically and using Excel. You will be highly capable numerically and able to demonstrate excellent appreciation of commercial and cost factors in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
