Assistant Building Surveyor Job Overview

  • Undertaking detailed measured surveys and producing accurate CAD plans.
  • Conducting building surveys and inspections, including condition schedules and planned maintenance reports.
  • Preparing drawings for planning applications and liaising with local planning authorities.
  • Developing outline and detailed designs, ensuring compliance with building regulations and relevant guidance.
  • Producing technical specifications, tender documentation, and schedules of work.
  • Assisting in contract administration, preparing contracts, monitoring project costs, and issuing instructions.
  • Managing tender processes, preparing tender reports, and liaising with contractors.
  • Attending and chairing client and contractor meetings, preparing minutes, and actioning key points.
  • Monitoring construction works on-site, liaising with operatives, and resolving technical queries.
  • Supporting the property management team with technical queries and small project works.

Assistant Building Surveyor Job Requirements

  • Degree in Building Surveying (RICS accredited).
  • Ideally, 1-2 years of post-graduate experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Desire to work towards MRICS status.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
