Job Title: Town Planner

Location: Chester or Wilmslow

We are looking for a motivated Planner to join a well-established planning consultancy with the flexibility to work both remotely and from the Chester or Wilmslow office. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about planning and development, eager to contribute to exciting projects and build a strong foundation in their planning career.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you'll work on a wide range of projects, supporting senior staff, advising clients directly on site and project specifics, and drafting key planning documents such as site assessments, planning submissions, development plans, and environmental statements. You'll also assist with managing the team's project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting senior planners in the progress of large-scale projects
  • Handling smaller planning applications independently
  • Conducting research and analysis to inform project decisions
  • Preparing comprehensive planning appraisals of land and building proposals
  • Writing planning reports and drafting applications
  • Engaging with planning officers, consultants, and third parties to ensure smooth project progress
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry professionals
  • Developing innovative solutions and strategies for projects
  • Managing smaller projects from inception to completion
  • Staying up-to-date with relevant planning policies and regulations
  • Representing the team at external events and preparing presentations

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: RTPI-accredited degree or master's in Planning or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it is preferred.
  • Relevant experience in planning role within the public or private sector.
