Managing a large distribution network, our mission is to ensure uninterrupted and efficient energy delivery to customers.

They are seeking a High Voltage Electrician to join their team.

6 Month FTC. possibly leading to a permanent position.

This is a pivotal role responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of high voltage electrical systems and their associated equipment.

You will work Monday - Friday and be responsible for the maintenance, testing, repair and installation of high voltage electrical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

As a High Voltage Electrician, your duties will include:

  • Install, maintain, and repair high voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, and cables.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Perform high voltage testing, fault finding, and diagnostics on electrical equipment to specification, schedule and plan to ensure high reliability of the control and protection equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK electrical regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Work on planned and reactive maintenance tasks within industrial, commercial, and utility environments.
  • Collaborate with electricians, supervisors, engineers, and other stakeholders to complete works efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including reports and safety documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate potential electrical hazards, ensuring adherence to strict health and safety procedures.
  • Provide training assistance and support for personnel in equivalent position and trainees.
  • Utilise company IT systems to raise notifications for emerging work and feedback.
  • Work with contractors in order to support planned and unplanned activities.
  • Respond to emergency callouts and provide troubleshooting support when required.
  • Responding to high-voltage faults and emergencies, ensuring prompt and safe resolution.
  • Assisting in root cause analysis on failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Communicating with on-site customers along with outside agencies and bodies as required.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Qualified Electrician with experience in high-voltage systems.
  • Proven experience in high voltage maintenance, installation, and fault-finding.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and risk assessments related to high voltage work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics and electrical drawings.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Desirable:

  • Experience working within a team carrying out preventative in an electrical or industrial setting.
  • Previous high voltage authorisations.
