Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial ManagerRingwood, HampshireSalary up to £75,000 + Car Allowance £5250 + 25 Days Holiday + PensionBlaymires Recruitment is representing a leading offsite design and build contractor based near Ringwood, who is searching for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to join the business.The company is well known for being the South’s largest modular building contractor and has successfully delivered projects across the MoD, Residential and Education sectors.Projects have included classrooms through to large scale accommodation with project values ranging from £1M to £20M.As Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager you will manage the commercial performance of all projects across the business.

You will assist the Project Managers & Surveyors to allow management of project and commercial risk, ensuring that financial performance meets or exceeds profitability targets.

You will provide commercial support and manage a team of four Quantity Surveyors and will be involved in running projects when required.

The company will consider a Senior Quantity Surveyor who is looking to take a step up into a Commercial Manager role or an existing Commercial Manager or Managing Surveyor.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager :

• As the Qs/Commercial Manager within the business, you will support the Finance & Commercial Director.
• Manage Commercial contracts with the business & clients at all stages.
• Understand the requirements of the customers in specific sectors, where applicable, and ensure that projects are managed commercially to satisfy those requirements.
• Work together with sales and estimating to develop accurate bids.
• Responsible for the commercial assurance of the projects under management.
• Day to day management of the company’s Commercial Team, to include supporting the Quantity Surveyors on site where required.
• Working with Quantity Surveyors to ensure that subcontracts are placed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
• Providing commercial assurance of project margin performance through accurate forecasting and identification of issues giving rise to commercial risk.
• Management of commercial performance, cashflow, margin management (commercial value creation) and commercial risk on allocated projects.
• Support the Project Delivery Team in the management of the contract (including managing warranties), creating commercial value.
• Identify any potential disputes, provide appropriate reports and ensure that issues are escalated appropriately.

Experience / Qualifications of the Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager:

• This is a management position for an individual with the business acumen to develop commercial opportunity on projects and within the business to achieve and exceed profitability targets.
• The individual should have proven experience in their ability to lead, influence and communicate with others. Extensive experience of managing commercial contracts (JCT or NEC) with clients is essential. Demonstrable experience in the construction industry is also essential.
