My client is looking to recruit a site Operations Director for their manufacturing site based in Somerset.
Company - Design and manufacture fertilisers and other related products to the amenity turf market (golf courses, football pitches, bowling greens, lawncare and municipal areas) and horticultural market (growing media, glasshouse cultivation, retail). They have achieved significant growth both in the UK market and overseas, and now sell into over 26 different countries across the globe. The role is coming about due to a retirement and the successful Operations director will have direct reports including the Production Manager, Materials Manager, Project Manager, Quality Control/Assurance and product development staff as well as all admin functions relating to Operations.

The Operations Director will also be responsible for planning, developing, and directing quality assurance policies, programs, processes and initiatives. This will include product development and testing to ensure materials, parts, and products comply with established quality standards, as well as external regulations. Ensuring that all the Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, will also be a key element of the job remit. Not only will the job holder shape the future of all operations but he/she will demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills in leading the work force, through natural authority, to successfully introduce change, new ways of working and technologies where appropriate and above all ensure that the ethos of customer service is paramount throughout the operations team.

Key requirements - The Operations Director will have:
·Previous Operations management experience in a manufacturing environment, eg food, drink, pharmaceutical, or agricultural
·A thorough understanding of all operations processes and systems as well as preparing and presenting Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports on operational and quality processes to the Board.
·Experience and skill in planning layouts, installing plant and machinery in the most optimised manner is also required.
·Responsible for the running and development of the 123 Insight MRP system
·Has an understanding and desire to implement lean production techniques, in a pragmatic manner, as part of continuous measurable improvement while achieving customer requirements.
·Enhance adherence to the company's health and safety procedures
·Develop and control operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters
