Principal Designer Job in Winchester, Hampshire

An opportunity has arisen for a Principal Designer to join a leading practice renowned for high-end residential and historic projects. The successful candidate will oversee Building Regulations and safety compliance, working on prestigious projects that blend heritage conservation.

A renowned practice in traditional architecture and urban design, this firm is celebrated for its work on prime residential and heritage projects. Regularly featured in industry and lifestyle publications, their portfolio includes historic buildings, private residences, commercial properties, and interiors across the UK and internationally. Their expertise in conservation, restoration, and high-end design has earned them a strong reputation in the industry.

They are now seeking a Principal Designer to join their team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage design compliance under the Building Safety Act
  • Advise architectural teams on Building Regulations
  • Develop compliance and safety services
  • Maintain strong client relationships and support Duty Holder responsibilities
  • Ensure quality assurance and monitor project schedules
  • Mentor staff and provide training on regulations
  • Attend project meetings and collaborate with external teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in construction, compliance, or health & safety
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and Building Regulations
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Degree in Architecture, Building Surveying, or Construction Management
  • Membership in RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT, BSCF, or CIOB.
