Private Client Tax Associate / Assistant

Location: Winchester, Hampshire

Salary: £35,000 to £55,000 plus excellent benefits package, this is a full-time or part-time permanent position with hybrid and flexible working options.

Our client is a well-established accountancy and tax advisory practice. A new opportunity has arisen for a Tax Associate / Assistant Manager within Landed Estates & Rural Businesses to join our clients growing Private Client Tax team. Are you ACA and/or CTA qualified (study support can be provided towards these qualifications) and have experience working within a private client tax team. This is a full-time or part-time permanent position that will be based primarily in our clients Winchester office. It will also offer hybrid working (three days in the office and up to two days working at home) and flexible working. Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 (Associate level) and £45,000 to £55,000 (Assistant Manager Level) plus, excellent benefits package including pension, life assurance, health cash plan, retail discount scheme, electric vehicles salary sacrifice, and cycle to work scheme.

Private Client Tax Associate / Assistant your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of complex tax returns for individuals and partnerships, and associated administration to ensure compliance within deadlines.
  • Preparation of trust accounts and tax returns, including updating the Trust Registration Service where required.
  • Working closely with and providing support to senior staff with tax advisory services and ad-hoc tasks.
  • Liaising with clients directly and attending meetings where required.
  • Commercial management of the client portfolio ensuring fees are raised promptly after work has been completed.
  • Aiding junior members of the team where appropriate.
  • Dealing with HMRC correspondence, telephone calls and enquiries.

Private Client Tax Associate / Assistant requirements:

  • We would like to hear from you if you have a minimum of 3 years UK experience, from either a medium sized or mid-tier firm.
  • ACA and/or CTA qualified, or study support can be provided towards these qualifications.
  • Experience in a private client tax team.
  • An eagerness to learn and research complex areas of CGT and IHT.
  • Experience with landed estates and agricultural businesses would be an advantage.
