My client, a consumer focussed leader in their field, is looking for a new Category Manager to join their successful team on a one year, FTC maternity cover. You will become marketing lead for a group of categories, managing the total portfolio of products and overall marketing plan. You will be skilled in turning analysis into action to deliver ambitious commercial and marketing growth goals for the subsidiary and retail partners

Your role will involve:

  • Setting overall category direction and developing multi-channel marketing plans, interfacing with other teams to flawlessly activate plans
  • Taking full ownership and management of the total portfolio of products within the categories - NPD roadmap & existing range performance
  • Providing detailed direction and owning the total category volume forecast, cross referencing this to the market share commitments, market and price segment dynamics and overall growth ambition
  • Leading proactive approach to ensure range performance is optimised across the retail accounts through a rolling 12 month promotion plan
  • Managing the whole portfolio of SKUs, lifecycle, NPD sign off process & effective SKU exits
  • Deeply understanding Gfk Market, Price Segment, target audience, shopper journey & competitor trends to set out targets and opportunities for each product, retailer and channel
  • Leading retailer range review preparation and delivery to support the product ranging priorities and influence the buying teams with compelling presentations
  • Liaising with wider teams to provide product images, videos & features/benefits text for retail execution and all assets for consumer communication
  • Becoming the main point of contact for the group of categories with key agency partners (PR, Media and Advertising)
  • Taking ownership of advertising and promotional budget for the brand

You will be the ideal candidate due to your:

  • Strong experience in a similar role, ideally working in a new product development team, managing portfolio of brands within the same category
  • Evidence of being able to analyse different data sources
  • Experience in understanding the P&L, gross margin, trade margins
  • Extensive Marketing experience including Digital with track record of successful New Product launches and Consumer Marketing ideally across more than one consumer brand
  • Strong Financial skills - evidence of building business cases
  • Budgetary Management - monitoring / control
  • Experience of writing Media & PR briefs, liaising with a Media & PR Agency and evaluating media & PR strategy response
  • Leadership -sets vision and direction for total category
  • Communication - ability to inspire, strong presentation and influencing skills
