About the Role

There is currently an exciting opportunity for a new Data Officer to join the home to school transport service team at Hampshire County Council.Please note, experience in any of the following areas will be advantageous: Crystal, SSRS (Capita One Report Builder), SSMS (SQL Management Studio), ADF (Azure Data Factory), Power BI.Role Responsibilities

  • As part of the School Transport team, contribute to the efficiency, performance and quality of the School Transport Service, ensuring a timely and high-quality service provision.
  • Working alongside others in the School Transport Service to ensure efficient and reliable delivery of transport arrangements, by updating, improving and recording processes.
  • Responsible for leading allocated systems utilisation and efficiency led programmes of work across the service.
  • Accountable for ensuring a high standard of systems utilisation
  • Accountable for resolution of widespread or significant system issues affecting a number of routes.
  • Working closely with colleagues to design and develop the school transport system reports to support business processes in the most efficient way.
  • Accountable for ensuring processes are aligned to system configuration and that appropriate Standard Operating Procedures are in place.
  • Accountable for joint working between the School Transport Service and other services within HCC, including IT, Transformation and DAST
  • Responsible for ensuring decisions as well as child, operator and Passenger Assistant records are made and updated in a timely and accurate manner in agreed systems (including Capita One) so that others in the team can quickly and easily identify progress and status.
  • Writing reports on behalf of the Head of Service for a range of audiences, including CSDMT.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Able to demonstrate highly effective negotiation, influencing and customer management skills
  • Strong and consistent track record of delivering successful process and efficiency outcomes across a wide range of systems
  • Significant experience in designing and delivering system reports to support business processes.
  • Ability to work highly effectively in a complex environment and to develop and sustain strong relationships at all levels
  • Able to translate plans into a deliverable portfolio of work and to communicate it effectively to different audiences
  • Demonstrable commitment to and role model the behaviours of HCC's 'One Organisation' culture and it's Values.
  • You may be required to visit other locations within Hampshire, and therefore need to have the ability to travel, as necessary.

Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in, or for, local government/the public sector and management of suppliers
  • Experience of writing business reports in the CapitaOne system
  • Good knowledge of current relevant legislation and statutory requirements
  • Good knowledge of current challenges in local authority school transport
