Senior EC&I Engineer

My client are currently looking for a Senior EC&I Engineer to join their team and lead the electrical engineering aspects of major projects from concept through to manufacture, testing, and handover. This role is crucial in managing multi-disciplined engineering teams and ensuring the successful delivery of electrical components in machine design and build projects.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide leadership and management to engineering teams, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of electrical engineering elements.
  • Manage the design output of subcontractors from concept to validation, focusing on electrical components.
  • Ensure strict adherence to customer specifications and standards for electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I).
  • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure designs integrate electrical and control requirements effectively and are fit for purpose.
  • Conduct peer reviews of subcontractor-produced drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and suppliers, including assessing and integrating new EC&I subcontractors.
  • Witness factory acceptance tests and sign off on projects.
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers, ensuring that outsourced EC&I design meets project requirements.
  • Analyze technical tender specifications, contribute to technical aspects of tender returns, and create accurate tender design estimates.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical, or a higher degree (BEng/MSc).
  • Professional registration (EngTech/IEng/Ceng) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of GDPR/data protection legislation and requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead engineering teams in a fast-paced, regulatory environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining strong relationships.
  • Competence in managing safety within the workplace, ensuring compliance with UK and European standards.
