Teaching Assistant Job, available in Winchester

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work with a Year R pupil with Downs Syndrome. This role is due to start January 2025 on a full time basis.

Position: 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Start Date: From January 2025

Location: Small village school (no public transport available - driving is essential)

Role: Supporting a Year R girl transitioning into school with Downs Syndrome

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a young child with Downs Syndrome, helping them transition smoothly into school life
  • Implement tailored strategies to support the child's communication and interaction needs
  • Foster a calm, nurturing, and patient learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to ensure the child's needs are met effectively
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, adjusting support as necessary

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Down Syndrome
