My client are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves creating engineering concepts and solutions under the supervision of the Principle Engineer, Engineering Manager, or Engineering & Projects Director. The ideal candidate will have experience in a highly regulated manufacturing industry, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to their engineering projects.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Produce engineering designs and associated engineering documents such as drawings, calculations, and reports, ensuring they are completed within the required timescales.
  • Issue engineering documents as required.
  • Assist in general clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Department.
  • Progress small and medium-sized engineering projects, as allocated, or work as part of a team on larger projects. Most work should be carried out with minimal supervision but with regular consultation with the Head of Development or other team members.
  • Engage in all aspects of the design process, including draughting and testing of products, as well as other organisational tasks, to ensure timely progress of projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC/HND in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience and references in Engineering activities, especially in Aerospace, Defence or Nuclear industries, will be highly valued.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with CAD/AutoCAD.
  • Strong reporting skills to effectively communicate with the Engineering & Projects Director and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce, check, and issue design and process documents.
  • Substantiation/validation of design output.
