Role Overview

As a Principal Pipelines Engineer, you will lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, ensuring the successful design and execution of pipeline projects. You will be involved in all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept selection to execution, and will play a key role in developing solutions for both brownfield and greenfield projects, including carbon capture initiatives. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that all pipeline work meets the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering design activities for onshore and offshore rigid pipelines across all project phases, including concept selection, FEED, and execution.
  • Act as Project Design Lead on large projects, managing discipline engineers and designers, and ensuring the quality of pipeline work.
  • Supervise and review pipeline activities, including mechanical design, stress analysis, and installation considerations.
  • Collaborate with CAD designers to develop layouts and pipeline drawings.
  • Prepare technical requisitions, compile ITTs, and perform bid evaluations.
  • Validate pipeline inspection and maintenance strategies, including Emergency Pipeline Repair Services.
  • Conduct site visits to manufacturers and check third-party design and installation activities during project execution.
  • Liaise with other disciplines such as Process, Material and Corrosion, Flow Assurance, and Civil Engineering during project execution.
  • Stay updated on pipeline design standards, legislative requirements, and Company HSEQ policies.
  • Ensure safety and environmental standards are maintained, and quality assurance processes are followed.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly in the design and installation of onshore and offshore rigid pipelines.
  • Proficiency in pipeline design software, including DNVGL SESAM pipeline suite, PET, AutoPipe, and SAGE Profile.
  • Familiarity with Ansys, ABAQUS, and Orcaflex is desirable.
  • Knowledge of UK and international codes and standards (e.g., BS, DNV, ISO, API, ASME).
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivation to develop into a high-level technical expert.
Qualifications
  • Ideally, a Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline such as Pipeline Engineering, Subsea Pipeline Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
