Higher Level Teaching Assistant Job in Winchester

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work with a school in Winchester on a long term basis. As a HLTA you will be working with pupils currently behind progress attainment levels, working in small groups across Key Stage 2. On occasion you will be covering afternoon sessions in the class room from preplanned lessons provided by the teacher. This role is to start from January on a full time basis.

Position: Higher Level Teaching assistant

Start Date: January 2025

Location: Small village school (no public transport available - driving is essential)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement tailored strategies to support the child's communication and interaction needs
  • Foster a calm, nurturing, and patient learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to ensure the child's needs are met effectively
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, adjusting support as necessary

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with children with SEN
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with the child
  • Understanding of early years development and transition
  • A driver with access to a vehicle (no public transport to the school)
