The Role

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the development of complex projects, set engineering best practices, and mentor a team of engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Your expertise will influence the technical direction of the organisation and contribute to our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development work on large or complex projects, or oversee multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Define and champion engineering best practices and standards across the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive the adoption of innovative technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to design and implement robust software systems that align with business needs.
  • Mentor and guide a cohort of approximately 10 engineers, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
  • Write clean, scalable, and testable code for key deliverables.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical testing, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve team practices and solutions.

About You

We are seeking a strategic thinker and technical leader who can drive innovation and deliver impactful solutions.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and AWS, with expertise in serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, Step Functions).
  • Strong front-end development experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Proven ability to design end-to-end solutions, translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Extensive experience in software development, with a track record of leading complex, enterprise-level projects.
  • Strong mentoring and leadership skills to guide and develop less experienced engineers.
  • In-depth knowledge of software engineering best practices, including security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
