Joining us as an ESOL Tutor for the Hampshire Resettlement Community ESOL Project puts you at the heart of co-designing and delivering a 12-week programme of activities and classes aimed at engaging adult learners from the Hampshire Resettlement Schemes. These schemes provide safe and legal routes for those in need of protection and include the UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) and Afghan Schemes.
Using a strength-based approach the project aims to offer suitable English language training to resettled adults who face barriers to accessing mainstream English language provision due to their current proficiency, location, or other challenges such as disability and caring responsibilities.
Each 13-week programme cycle starts with Diagnostic English Capability Assessments conducted at each learner's home during the first week. Following these assessments, the tutor collaborates with the Hampshire Resettlement and Support Service to plan, coordinate, and deliver a tailored programme that aligns with each learner's individual learning plan.
Classes and activities may be scheduled during evenings and weekends to address barriers to learning and encourage engagement, taking place in a traditional classroom setting for groups, or one-on-one sessions during home visits.
To ensure the project's success, the tutor will deliver services on time, within budget, and to agreed standards. They will also monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes and activities with other stakeholders, contributing to ongoing improvements.
This position is part of the Global Resettlement Team within Adults Health and Care Commissioning Team, which is responsible for commissioning high-quality services for Hampshire residents. The team values inclusivity and collaboration to improve community outcomes.
Candidates should be educated to degree level or equivalent, hold an ESOL teaching qualification (e.g., Cambridge CELTA), and provide two professional references. An Enhanced DBS check will be conducted as part of the pre-employment process.
You may be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current drivers' licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
The hours of work will fall within core hours of 7am - 10pm Monday to Saturday. Lone working and home visits are expected.
