Are you looking for a new school support role?Do you have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to provide a daily transport service and a flexible approach to work?If so, you might be the perfect candidate for our school transport officer position in the beautiful Lake District!We are looking for a school transport officer to work for a school that prides itself in the quality of the education, opportunities and facilities available to pupils - based in Windermere. The efficiency and effectiveness of its transport service for pupils, staff and visitors is extremely important, playing an important part in attracting and retaining students. You will work closely with senior leaders, maintenance contractors, pupils and parents on a daily basis.This is a full-time, term-time only role, initially on a long-term temporary basis, but could become permanent for the right person. Usual working hours in term time can be worked between 7am-3pm and 11am-7pm - although there may be some flexibility in this.Key duties will include:

  • Provide a daily transport service for pupils attending the school.
  • Regular and irregular transport requests, as necessary, taking pupils to various destinations such as swimming, and sports fixtures.
  • Coordinate and drive international pupils to and from the airports at each half-term (there could be occasional unsociable hours).
  • Undertake vehicle cleaning, valeting and refuelling for the mini-bus fleet in support of other school drivers.
  • Schedule all safety checks for school vehicles, monitor and audit as necessary.
  • Schedule MOTs for all vehicles as required.
  • Arrange external transport provision when required.
  • Maintain a register and database of persons authorised to drive minibuses and arrange all minibus driver training and safety assessments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A fully qualified, safe, careful driver with a clean driving licence, including Category D1 (able to drive minibuses)
  • Previous experience in a similar role and a strong administrative background.
  • A sense of humour and the ability to co-operate with a wide cross-section of people.
  • Experience of First Aid is desirable
