JOB - Mechanical Engineering Manager
LOCATION- Berkshire
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £65,000 - £75,000 per annum dependent on experience

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager in the Berkshire area to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Design Office and the Manufacturing Engineering team. This role plays a key part in seamlessly aligning design and production processes to maintain high standards of quality, innovation, and efficiency. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in automotive industry or a precision machining environment, with practical experience in managing design, manufacturing, and production workflows.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Relevant Technical/Manufacturing degree qualification or equivalent experience
  • Keen passion for technology development with Manufacturing equipment, automation, assembly and precision machining
  • Strong leadership and management experience
  • Proactive in approach to customers & suppliers & areas to improve efficiency
  • Previous experience with CAD
  • Thrive under pressure & have the will to succeed
  • Continuous improvement, zero defect and customer focused mindset
  • Creative, engaging and keeping up with the latest future industry technology updates

The Mechanical Engineering Manager role will involve:

  • Develop processes to a production steady state standard that meets specification and design intent
  • Specify material requirements and define suitable methods of manufacture and identify & implement tooling and equipment
  • Continually develop & increase knowledge of manufacturing technology developments including manufacturing techniques to support drive & innovation
  • Provide technical and organisational leadership to the Manufacturing Equipment Group, ensuring the delivery of robust assembly, equipment and process solutions
  • Support design & customer reviews and other meetings as required
  • Support the Head of OTD in the development of the Annual Operating Plan, working to reduce Manufacturing Equipment Group costs where practical
  • Create manufacturing information sheets, routings, BOM's using CAD and PLM data management tools
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams (R&D, Operations, Quality, Project Managers, etc) and external contacts (Customers, Suppliers, etc), to ensure that Manufacturing Equipment Group developments are aligned with broader business goals and strategies
  • Check & approve Manufacturing information sheets, change notes and other documents as per Engineering procedures
