We are seeking a dedicated Subject Leader of Geography to join our dynamic team. This role involves sharing the strategic leadership of the Geography department, teaching students, and carrying out associated duties as assigned by the Headteacher. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator looking to advance their career in educational leadership.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Share strategic leadership of the Geography subject area as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment tools, ensuring differentiation and the inclusion of ICT.
  • Uphold and implement school policies relevant to the subject, including those related to behaviour, homework, and assessment.
  • Conduct effective evaluations of staff performance, academic standards, and the personal development and well-being of students.
  • Produce Subject Development Plans and a Subject Self-evaluation Form to contribute to the overall school improvement plans.
  • Manage and deploy resources efficiently and effectively within the Geography department.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements within the subject area.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Geography or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Geography education and leadership within a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and the latest educational practices.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, capable of motivating and developing staff.
  • Ability to set high standards and achieve them through effective teaching and management.
  • Experience in performance management and staff development.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
