A highly regarded specialist school in Windsor is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support children and young adults with Autism and learning disabilities. Working with students aged 3 to 16, this role is ideal for a compassionate and energetic individual eager to help students develop both academically and socially. Experience working with children or adults with special needs would be beneficial, but a positive attitude and enthusiasm are what matter most.
Role ResponsibilitiesAs an Autism/Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support students emotionally and help promote positive mental health.
- Help students achieve their academic goals, while also developing their social and life skills.
- Assist in managing challenging behaviors and implementing positive behavior strategies.
- Facilitate communication using tools such as visual aids, speech support, and Makaton.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and therapy teams.
This role offers a unique opportunity for graduates in Psychology, Criminology, or related fields to gain hands-on experience in a therapeutic environment, learning from on-site therapists and psychologists. It's an excellent stepping stone for those pursuing careers as educational psychologists, therapeutic support workers, or SEN teachers.
