We are recruiting for a Transport Planner to join a family owned and very well established distribution company. This is a permanent role, working 4 on, 4 off days 6am-6pm from their fabulous offices in a brand new building based in Bolton. Salary is approx. 32,000 per annum plus excellent development opportunities!

As Transport Planner, reporting into the Planning Manager you will be part of a team of 4 Planners and the Customer Service team of 3. You will be arranging the deliveries of customers products on time and in full using the most effective means possible, and the best use of available resources whilst complying with transport legislation and health & safety. Your main duties will include:

  • Planning and coordinating transport schedules to ensure the timely delivery of goods
  • Optimising routes to reduce costs and improve efficiency
  • Working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams to ensure smooth operations
  • Managing drivers with their loads and start times etc
  • Monitoring and addressing any delivery issues or disruptions
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports on transport activities
  • Complying with all transport legislation, reducing tacho-graph infringement to be below the company targets

We are keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience as a Transport Planner or similar
  • At least 2 years experience working within transport planning, distribution or logistics ideally
  • Demonstrate your ability to work effectively under pressure and handle multiple tasks
  • Proficient in using transport management software, and good knowledge of Excel
  • Strong communication skills with excellent attention to detail
