Our client is a respected and growing groundworks contractor with a strong focus on residential projects. They have built a reputation for delivering high-quality groundwork services across various housing developments. Due to ongoing growth and increasing demand, they are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team and play a key role in managing the financial aspects of their residential groundworks projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial and financial elements of residential groundworks projects from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Prepare and manage project cost plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Measure and value work on-site, including preparing accurate take-offs for groundworks.
  • Prepare tender documentation and assist with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Administer contracts, including processing payments, variations, and claims.
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Provide regular reports on project costs and financial status to senior management and clients.
  • Collaborate with site teams to resolve any commercial issues and ensure effective project delivery.
  • Support in the preparation and submission of final accounts.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally with a background in groundworks or civil engineering on residential sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and the ability to manage them effectively.
  • Excellent measurement and cost estimation skills, with a good eye for detail.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Experience using industry-standard software (e.g., CostX, Excel).
